A four poster bed under white netting, a rain shower open to the sky and a daybed hung over the garden.

A cliff resort of forty one suites on the south coast of Bali, fifty metres above the Indian Ocean.
Plan your stayMornings begin with the sound of the swell below the rocks. Days drift between the pool, the reef and a long lunch in the shade. Evenings end the same way they always have here, with the sun sinking slowly into the sea.
Every suite faces the water. There are no rooms on the road side and no corridors to share. You arrive along a path of frangipani and limestone, and the ocean opens up in front of you.
We built Alunara with families from the village of Pecatu, using local stone, reclaimed teak and roofs of alang alang grass that keep the suites cool through the dry season.
Four ways to stay. Every one has its own terrace, an outdoor bath and a view that changes colour every hour.

A four poster bed under white netting, a rain shower open to the sky and a daybed hung over the garden.

Teak doors fold all the way back, so the living room becomes part of the garden for the whole afternoon.

Your own twelve metre pool on the cliff edge, a sunken lounge and a kitchen for long lazy breakfasts.

Two bedrooms, a pool deck for twelve and a butler who quietly knows when you want a coconut.
Yoga on the cliff before the heat arrives. The swell is clean, the coffee is from Kintamani and nobody needs to talk yet.
Two hundred and twenty steps lead to a private cove. Snorkel the reef at low tide or let the beach team set up an umbrella and leave you alone.
Grilled fish from the morning boats, green papaya, lime and chilli, eaten slowly under a roof of grass with the sea breeze coming through.
Everyone drifts back to the cliff edge. A gamelan player starts somewhere in the garden and the sky turns from gold to violet.
Our cooks buy from the fish market in Jimbaran at dawn and from farms in Bedugul twice a week. The menu changes when the sea and the season tell it to.

A wood fired grill on the cliff. Whole fish, smoked prawns and vegetables cooked in the embers.

A garden table beside the jungle pool. Tropical fruit, eggs any way you like them and the best nasi goreng on the coast.

A small bar facing west. Arak cocktails, cold beer and a front row seat for the evening sky.
